DEFINITION: SMILE Canada - Support Services is looking for a Project Coordinator to manage all SMILE programs and fundraising in the community.

This position is responsible for program development; community outreach and engagement; coordination of community education, training, and events; web content management; data collection, management and reporting; providing technical assistance and logistical support to SMILE Volunteers specifically SMILE Team Leads and raising funds in support of SMILE initiatives

Duties of the Project Coordinator include but are not limited to

Fundraising Responsibilities

Secure minimum of 65,000 dollars annually via grants, crowdfunding other fundraising effortsCompile Annual ReportDevelop and write grant proposals to foundations and other grant-making organizations. Assemble and submit grant requests, to include letters, proposals, budgets, and other required documentationMaintain calendar to ensure timely submission of letters of inquiry, proposal deadlines, and reportsAccurately maintain actions including donor and proposal information.

Inclusion Committee

Research local resources that would support inclusion of children with disabilities in Islamic SchoolsDeveloping and conducting presentations for Islamic Centers & SchoolsDevelop programs for mosques to follow to become accessible with clear deliverablesConnect masjids and centres to resources

Awareness Committee

Schedule and/or provide logistical support for Community Conversations on disability-related issues that will be held throughout the community.Develop and conduct outreach to recruit diverse community members to participate in community conversations.Collect, manage and report data regarding established project milestones. Support collaboration and task team meetings.


Compile monthly newsletterCompile SMILE educational and promotional materialCoordinate details and maintain timelines and priorities for each SMILE event. Events include but not limited to Kids Events, Youth Events, Community Workshops, SMILE presentations, information booths, outreach & fundraising events.Responsible for informing SMILE families about upcoming Kids and Youth EventsUpdate google docs, excel sheets and other various documents.other duties as needed

Update Web content on a weekly basis .


Minimum requirements include an undergraduate degree and at least 5 years of professional experience relevant to this position and experience working with and understanding culturally diverse communitiesKnowledge in issues related to disability and inclusionSuccess in community fundraising, professional volunteer management, public relations, special events and networking is an assetGeneral familiarity with all aspects of local fundraisingStrong public speaking skills.Broad knowledge of the principles of fundraising and ability to participate with all areas of the development cycle. Able to succeed in making cold calls, as well as develop and implement cultivation and solicitation strategiesProficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint)Knowledge in disability and accessibility
