Facing the Falls shares the story of international disability rights advocate and United Nations humanitarian, Cara Elizabeth Yar Khan's 12-day expedition through the Grand Canyon. Diagnosed with an aggressive, muscle-wasting disease, Cara's journey to live an extraordinary life and shatter stigma against people living with disabilities serves as a reminder that we must continuously challenge our biases and perceptions, striving to build safer and more inclusive spaces for all.
Following the screening, disability advocate and Cineplex Vice President Rayhan Azmat will join Cara for a fireside chat. Together, they’ll explore themes from the film and spark important conversations on disability, inclusion, and challenging stigmas.
Proceeds from ticket sales will go directly to supporting underserved and under-respresented children with disabilities and their families. At SMILE Canada, we witness daily how families experience exclusion from essential support due to significant communication, information, and attitudinal barriers. We work towards dismantling these barriers so that children receive the timely and critical disability-related care necessary for their wellbeing.
Doors open at 7:00 PM. The event will begin at 7:30 PM
Complimentary popcorn and drinks with be provided to all guests
