Ramadan is a holy month in the Islamic calendar, observed by millions around the world. It is a time marked by intention, reflection, and generosity, expressed through fasting, community, giving to others, and more. For many families at SMILE, this is also a critical time marked by unmet needs, systemic barriers, and limited access to support. Across the globe, families are fleeing their homes in hopes of safety, only to be denied access to care.
This Ramadan, we invite you to gather with intention.
The evening centres on community and shared responsibility, bringing together people for an iftar in support of children with disabilities and critical illnesses. Through this gathering, we reflect on what it means to give with care and to ensure families are not left navigating complex systems alone.
The program will feature reflections from families with lived experience, alongside a keynote speaker offering perspective on community, responsibility, and the importance of showing up for one another. Together, these voices will shape an evening grounded in listening and connection.
