No Child Left Behind: From Awareness to Action
Every child has the right to learn, participate, and belong. Yet, newcomer children with disabilities continue to face barriers when accessing inclusive education, healthcare, and community support.
Join SMILE Canada for No Child Left Behind: From Awareness to Action, a professional development forum commemorating World Children’s Day and the International Day of Persons with Disabilities.
This event is designed for professionals working in healthcare, education, social services, government and policy, nonprofit organizations, and community services, as well as anyone involved in supporting newcomer children with disabilities and their families.
Through expert presentations, panel discussions, and interactive, sector-specific workshops, participants will explore how disability, culture, displacement, and systemic barriers shape children’s experiences when accessing essential services and support systems. Together, we will share knowledge, identify practical solutions, and strengthen collaboration across sectors to create more inclusive, accessible, and culturally responsive environments.
Moving beyond awareness to action, this forum will encourage participants to reflect on existing practices, identify meaningful changes, and develop strategies to improve access, participation, and opportunities for children and families.
Together, we can strengthen the systems that support newcomer children with disabilities and build a future where every child has the opportunity to thrive, regardless of their disability or newcomer experience.
Because no child should be left behind.
More details will be shared soon.
