Your support helps displaced children access:
• Mobility equipment they need to move safely (wheelchairs, walkers, etc.)
• Essential therapy services tailored to address critical health needs
• Mental health services to address the impacts of trauma
• Emergency assistance for families facing urgent medical or care needs
• Support for children in long-term hospital stays and End-of-Life Care
This month, whether you’re giving zakat or sadaqah, give to an organization that will handle it with care. SMILE supports 1,300+ families annually across Canada by providing essential items, hospital support, and service navigation for newcomer families caring for children with disabilities and long-term health conditions.
When Hamzah’s family found refuge in Türkiye after fleeing the war in Syria, they faced unimaginable hardship. When the devastating 2023 earthquake struck, Hamzah was trapped under the rubble for more than 30 hours. His father lost his life protecting his two sons, and Hamzah survived but both of his legs were amputated.
Today, Hamzah continues to navigate complex medical needs and requires ongoing support, just like the hundreds of newcomer families we serve at SMILE.

Ramadan is a holy month in the Islamic calendar, observed by millions around the world. It is a time marked by intention, reflection, and generosity, expressed through fasting, community, and giving. Families caring for children with disabilities and critical illnesses often face unmet needs, systemic barriers, and limited access to timely support. Across the globe, families are forced to flee their homes in search of safety, only to arrive in Canada where care remains out of reach. We invite you to be a part of our mission. Your support enables us to continue to ensure that families in need never have to face these challenges alone. Together, we can provide support to children and families who need it the most.
Give with intention this Ramadan, Give with Care.
